Current Faves

I wanted to start a new weekly segment on new things I’ve tried and loved. I always enjoy reading other blogs when they post a “5 Things Friday” or “Ten Things”, and I thought I’d share my current favorite things. I’ll have a diverse group- foods, places, things, products, people, or just new to me stuff.  I’ve decided to call it “Current Faves” because when I like something, I fall head first and go all out. So, naturally, I become obsessed.

In a good way 🙂

This week: Yoga Camp, Conscious Kombucha, Sun Potion, and Ojai, California Continue reading

El Cosmico, Marfa Texas

“Follow Me to El Cosmico”

…A bumper sticker and phrase well known to veteran fans of this magical place.

El Cosmico in West Texas, Marfa to be exact, is an aesthetically appealing hotel-like place for hipsters, artists, travelers, and nomads to stay and tune-out, but still stay close to the land. And it is so unlike any other place. We are talking Tee Pees, Mongolian Yurts, a slew of Caravans, Safari Tents, and even camp grounds on 18 acres of West Texas land.

Horseshoe Bend, AZ

Sadly, our Desert Road Trip was coming to an end, but on our last day we went out with a bang. We got to see Horseshoe Bend and take a boat ride through Lake Powell. Arizona really has some of the most beautiful scenery. There is so much more that I need/want/must see.

Bryce Canyon National Park, UT

There is no place quite like Bryce Canyon. It’s bright orange amphitheater basin filled with  odd-shaped rock formations and stalactite or stalagmite looking Hoodoo towers (can never remember which one is from the ground up) are incomparable . But again, pictures do it no justice.

The Narrows: Zion National Park, UT

Zion National Park has been on my list for a while now, and the second Owen and I started planning our road trip- adding a trip through Zion was a no-brainer. And once we experienced this magical place, it quickly became one of our most favorite places ever. Ugh, this place. Pictures do it absolutely no justice.

Valley of Fire State Park, NV

Entering the Valley of Fire State Park, is literally like taking a trip to the planet Mars. Imagine driving through desert terrain, orange mountains on either side, seemingly sky high, and then you take a turn, and everything turns RED;  red sand, red mountains, red rocks, pretty unreal.

Desert Road Trip Itinerary

Desert Road Trip Itinerary

Each year my husband and I try and take a road trip to visit some National Parks and other natural wonders. Last year, we took a California Road Trip and visited Sequoia National Park to see the giant Redwood Trees, and we also went to Napa/ Sonoma, San Francisco, Carmel, and Big Sur Beaches. This year we wanted to do more of a National Parks trip with a definite stop at some of Utah’s National Parks.

Weekend Getaway: Sparrows Lodge, Palm Springs CA

Sparrows Lodge

Last weekend the husband and I decided to take a weekend getaway. We had both been out of town separately and wanted to getaway together. We had our hearts set on Palm Springs, but we wanted to try somewhere “new to us”. So, the Sparrows Lodge it was!
